Alex LaMotte Music
Composed for two violins, this charming duet captures the essence of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, from the scenery to the people that reside there. This work is most prominently known from the popular violin duo TwoSetViolin, who performed LaMotte's work back in July of 2020. Ever since, the piece has been cherished by thousands internationally, and continues to be a staple in LaMotte's musical career.
In addition to composing, LaMotte also performs a series on his YouTube channel called "A One-Man Orchestra," where he records an orchestra of himself performing iconic staples within the classical repertoire. In this video, LaMotte performs the delightful finale to Gustav Holst's "St. Paul's Suite."
Another example from LaMotte's series "A One-Man Orchestra" includes the first movement of Antonín Dvořák's "Serenade for Strings."
This suite composed for string orchestra by LaMotte has something for everybody, beginning with a charming Prelude, followed by a stately Saraband, a flirtatious Mazurka and finally ending with a boisterous Tarantella.
Composed for string orchestra, harp, and percussion, this arrangement of the popular folk tune "Shenandoah" is nothing short of a show stopper. Comprised of a theme and five separate variations, LaMotte encapsulates the spirit of the Shenandoah Valley, from the people to the extraordinary landscape surrounding them.
In this video, LaMotte provides some insight on his daily life, answering questions from his subscribers on Instagram and YouTube.
LaMotte composed this work as a commission piece for the Regionales Jugendsinfonieorchester Solothurn (RJSO) in Switzerland. Unlike most works featuring one or multiple soloists, Festival Sinfonietta provides a bridge between two very different sections of the orchestra, with both a solo oboe and a solo violin. Comprised of four miniature subsections plus two cadenzas, this six to seven minute work is a perfect fit for any musician or audience member.
